The NIDA lamp was inspired by a bee nest in its natural state. The lamp is composed of layers of a honeycomb structure made out of gilded aircraft aluminum. The honeycomb pattern creates a kinetic diffraction of light. The lamp base is composed of a curved, stainless steel tube that is balanced by two thin stainless steel rods that cross one another to imitate rays of sunlight piercing the ground. The entire lamp base is gilded in 24-karat gold for a timeless finish.
