Colored concrete, handwoven indigo linen, handwoven black wool, and needle felt on the backside
Marei Rei has imagined a new sensory experience for this daily life object - she gathers on a single base varied textures, such as linen, concrete, felt, coton or even leather so as to attribute a new meaning to our sense of touch, demultiplying it and making it unfamiliar. She plays with the usual usage and orientation of the materials, inverting their original functions. New functions and new qualities are then made free to appear . The weaving process structures the rug while materials entertwine and interlace, with concrete, this solid mass, a new paragon of flexibility.
