This item results from the Emergence light sculpture project, in partnership with Galerie Gosserez, also counting one of its first pieces in the French Mobilier National collections.

Resolutely minimalist, Diane de Kergal is a multifaceted interior architect, designer, and self-taught artist who shapes her worlds like a tightrope walker, in constant search of a balance between clean lines and raw materials. Inspired by the work of Isamu Noguchi and her travels, she tries to tame the light through flexible forms. She imagines cocoons, first on paper, later in 3D, adorned with natural silk woven by virtuoso worms based in Les Cevennes (France).

Today through those works, the ancestral savoir-faire of silkworms breeding is reinvented. For several weeks the worms, artisans of silence, intertwine their delicate silk threads, embracing the organic contours of the molds created by the designer. The surprising envelope thus formed reveals both softness, resistance, and sometimes a few silk strands escaping here and there.

It is a conversation piece. At first intriguing, its story then fascinates. Everyone’s feelings are different, but the public at Galerie Gosserez does not remain indifferent. When turned off, the lamp is almost milky white. The shapes appear full of matter. While on, the lightness takes over, and this unique light allows you to travel to a lunar universe...
