MAREI LOELLMANN

Marei Loellmann was born in Germany in 1984 and now lives and works in Berlin. She grew up in a family for which creativity as an integral part of upbringing. She is the sister of Valentin Loellmann, a designer that Galerie Gosserez has been representing for many years. 

Marei graduated from the Weissensee School of Arts in Berlin in 2013, before starting her career by fashion design collections. She soon became the recipient of the Elsa Neumann grant, and was then shortlisted for the German Design Awards and for the Marianne Brandt Prize. She won an encouraging award at the Berlin Prize for Creation in 2014. 

She developped a poetical language in combining traditional weaving techniques with concrete. Her transdisciplinary approach bridges contemporary design, fine arts and performing arts which allows her to experiment with objects in order to surprise the viewer.
