Jérôme Abel Seguin

Jérôme Abel Seguin is a French artist born and living in Bordeaux. He studied fine arts and crafts, including sculpture, at Ecole Boulle and Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His first artistic expressions were a series, titled "Les Boites," of heterogeneous objects linked together by a technique of collage and assemblage. He soon started to work with materials such as staff, glass and mirror. He often participates in the creation of settings and décors for Air France, Hermès and Louis Vuitton, but also creates interior decorations for individuals. In 1988, a trip to Indonesia transformed his creative process. A new artistic language was born. The natural wealth of the Sumbawa Island became his raw material. Using wood as his main source of inspiration as well as his to-go material, Jérôme Abel Seguin started to build, assemble and shape sculptures, pieces of furniture and bas-reliefs, thus creating a specific universe combining the natural world with modernism and a zest of tropical atmosphere.
